Quality
of the roof
The skills of the thatcher in charge,the sort of used materials and
the way the work is executed will determine the quality and endurance
of the thatched roof. To bring quality to a higher level minimum demands
are proclaimed by the Dutch Federation of Thatchers.
Duration of
life
If well applied and maintained regularly, a thatched roof can last
for decades. Mimimum length of life is 25 years but 40 years or longer
certainly is not an exception.
Thatch roof
inspection
To get a better quality of thatching in general the Dutch Federation
of Thatchers has taken the initiative to inspect thatched roofs.
The inspection gives certainty about the craftmanship of the thatcher
and the quality of the work done.
Over the years the Federation has spent a lot of time, effort and
money to raise the standard of work in general and to improve the
training of new thatchers.
Only thatchers
who have taken the course to become a master thatcher can become members
of the Dutch Federation of Thatchers
